The Desert Light Labyrinth has a unique feature ~ its Satori Path. A visitor may walk directly to the center of the Labyrinth rather than take the traditional journey of the Winding Way. This reflects the ever present ground of being ~ the awareness that precedes perception.  There is nowhere to go, nothing to find; no struggle or journey is necessary ~ enjoy yourself.

From the center of the Labyrinth, the Satori Path leads directly out to the Way Beyond.  The Way Beyond takes the visitor to the Meditation Promontory. This provides the freedom to stay “in the heart of the mountain” for an extended period of meditation even when others may wish to sit on the center stone. When ready, the visitor may leave the Promontory and return directly to the center of the Labyrinth to take the Winding Way back out, or simply return to the parking lot.

The opportunity to get beyond constraints of time and space ~ absolutely and in the physical labyrinth experience itself ~ is the heart of the Desert Light Labyrinth as indicated in its Dedication.
